ADHD EVALUATION & TREATMENT
ADHD evaluation & treatment.
Attention and executive-function concerns can affect learning, organization, relationships, and daily responsibilities. I begin with a comprehensive assessment to understand the difficulties and what may be contributing.

ACROSS DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES
Children, students & adults.
School, increasing independence, college, and work can place different demands on attention and organization. I consider the person’s developmental history and current circumstances.
A COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT
What an ADHD evaluation involves.
I ask when attention and organizational difficulties began, how they have changed, and where they affect daily life. Developmental, medical, treatment, family, school, college, and work history help put the pattern in context.
Sleep, mood, anxiety, trauma, medical factors, developmental context, and changing life demands can also affect attention and executive function. These possibilities are considered alongside ADHD.
You can also ask about anxiety, autism, OCD, mood, or other concerns in their own right. A broader evaluation can help clarify the starting point.
With appropriate authorization, information from parents, teachers, existing clinicians, or previous records may help clarify the picture.
INDIVIDUALIZED CARE
Make the plan
useful in daily life.
Treatment follows the assessment. We discuss psychotherapy, practical organizational strategies, routines, and support in school or family life, according to your needs and developmental stage.
When medication may be clinically appropriate, we discuss potential benefits, risks, alternatives, and monitoring. A diagnosis or evaluation does not guarantee a prescription.
Your priorities and preferences remain part of decisions about treatment and follow-up.
SCHOOL & COLLEGE ACCOMMODATIONS
School & college accommodation support.
I can provide clinically appropriate documentation and letters, and may participate in school or college meetings when appropriate, authorized, and available. We discuss what is needed and what I can contribute.
K–12 · IEP
An Individualized Education Program (IEP) under IDEA addresses special education and related services for eligible students. The school’s evaluation and team process determine eligibility and the plan.
K–12 · Section 504
A Section 504 plan addresses disability-related access and appropriate aids, services, and accommodations. It has a different eligibility process from an IEP; a clinical diagnosis alone does not decide eligibility.
College · disability services
Students request accommodations through their college’s disability or accessibility services. The institution sets documentation requirements and reviews each request. K–12 plans may provide useful history but do not automatically carry over.
Schools and colleges determine eligibility and accommodations. Clinical documentation and meeting participation do not guarantee approval or a particular support.
Psychiatric assessment & formal testing
A psychiatric evaluation is different from a formal neuropsychological or psychoeducational testing battery. Learning-disability or other specialized testing may require a separate qualified specialist. Please clarify documentation requirements before arranging an assessment.
What should I clarify before requesting documentation?
+
Ask the school or college which process applies, what documentation it requires, and whether there are deadlines. We can then discuss what a psychiatric assessment can address, whether separate testing may be needed, and whether letters or meeting participation are appropriate and available. Please do not send detailed clinical or school records through the public consultation form.
