EMOTIONS, NEEDS & RELATIONSHIPS

Emotions have a context.

I understand emotions as adaptive responses shaped by development, experience, and relationships. They can tell us something about emotional needs and what a situation means to us.

Psychotherapy offers room to explore those needs, recurring patterns, and ways of coping. Responses that once helped us adapt may feel less useful as circumstances change.

Understanding,
put into practice.

Work may include practical cognitive and behavioral skills, new ways of responding to emotions, and changes in everyday habits. I consider developmental context, relationships, personal values, and supports that may help behavioral and emotional change.

Psychiatry & psychotherapy

Your values belong
in the work.

Patient autonomy is central. We discuss your priorities, the changes you want to explore, and which options fit your values and goals.

My background in emotional neuroscience informs how I think about emotion, learning, and change.

CARE FOR THE PERSON

How integrated care works.

Psychotherapy and lifestyle changes are central to my approach because they address the person, their emotional needs, and the circumstances that support change, alongside attention to symptoms.

Care may also integrate appropriate medication, practical cognitive and behavioral skills, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle considerations. We decide together which elements fit your needs.

We discuss the therapeutic approach, session length and frequency, and whether psychiatric evaluation is the appropriate first step. Therapy, combined care, and coordination with an existing therapist are considered according to your needs.

Psychotherapy can address anxiety, depression and other mood concerns, relationships, trauma, and life transitions. Adults and older adults are welcome to ask about psychotherapy; we discuss individual fit and the care you are seeking.

What if I already have a therapist?

+

You may continue with your existing therapist while seeking psychiatric evaluation or medication care. When clinically appropriate and with your authorization, I can coordinate care and clarify communication, treatment responsibilities, and follow-up with the clinicians involved.
